After so many students, especially my class the 4bha, campaigned for the Friday’s for future movement in Vorarlberg our headmistress decided to focus more on environmental protection at our school. As a result, no fourth class is allowed to fly to their destination for the project week.

In addition we decided to deal with topic climate change in our English lessons with our teacher Ms Treichel, and learn about it in more detail. There we talked about climate change in general, and also about some specific topics like Greta Thunberg, the great pacific garbage patch and most importantly what we can do about it.

There we heard the story of a women who produce zero waste, which is a really impressive lifestyle, which should be the aim of everybody. A really shocking topic we learned about was palm oil, because it is an ingredient in mostly everything from make up to shampoos up to sweets and other food. Although it is harmful for the human body we destroy hundred thousands of square meters of the rainforest to plant palm trees.
After that we got together in groups and picked one effect of climate change we want to learn more about.

Then we made a presentation about our topic and designed posters, which we hung up in the school to exhibit.
As a conclusion, each student set a personal goal, something they can change in their daily life to save the environment, like avoid one way plastic bottles, which we wrote on a paper to hang up in class to remember us every day.
