As of today, the adhesive vignette 2026 in fiery red is available at 6,000 ASFINAG sales points domestically and abroad. It is the last adhesive vignette - from February 1, 2027, only the digital variants will be available.

The "old" adhesive vignette in sea green is still valid until January 31, 2026 - from February 1, 2026, the new vignette must be affixed or alternatively the digital vignette must be available.

Last Adhesive Vignette 2026 in Fiery Red Now Available

Customers can once again freely choose between the digital vignette and the adhesive variant as usual. The price is the same for both options - 106.80 euros - as are the respective models such as ten-day, two-month, and annual vignette. The one-day vignette is only available digitally.

Attention: New Vignette Valid Only from December 1

Although the adhesive vignette in fiery red is already available, its validity only begins on December 1, 2025. The same applies to the digital vignette 2026. The annual vignette is valid for a maximum of 14 months - in the case of the vignette 2026, until January 31, 2027.

Analog Access to the Vignette Remains

The National Council decided to abolish the adhesive vignette on Thursday with the votes of the coalition. There was relatively little criticism in the debate, only the FPÖ still favors the adhesive vignette. However, it was more important for the Freedom Party to demand that the validity period of the digital one-day and ten-day vignette be changed to an hourly billing. From the time of activation, it should be valid for 24 hours and not expire at the end of the day, stated MP Elisabeth Heiß.

There were concerns about whether analog access would remain guaranteed. Here, Infrastructure Minister Peter Hanke (SPÖ) tried to reassure. As he emphasized, the digital vignette will continue to be available at tobacconists, gas and toll stations, as well as motorist clubs. "Everything remains the same, except that you no longer have to be annoyed by scratching off," said SP transport spokesman Wolfgang Moitzi.

Correctly Applying the Adhesive Vignette

Those who decide to opt for the adhesive vignette one last time this year should follow some tips from ÖAMTC to remove the old vignette as gently as possible and apply the new one correctly:

Remove the old vignette: Since the adhesive is water-soluble, the best way to remove adhesive residue is to rub it off with a damp cloth.

Clean and "warm up" the windshield: "When applying the new vignette, the windshield must be clean, dry, and grease-free," advises ÖAMTC technician Steffan Kerbl. "At temperatures below five degrees Celsius, the vignette may not adhere well. If it comes off and is damaged in the process, it is invalid." It is therefore advisable to apply the vignette in the garage or after a longer drive when the windshield is "pre-warmed."

Correct position: "The valid vignette must be completely removed from the backing film and affixed visibly inside the windshield - it is recommended to place it at the top left of the windshield or in the area of the rearview mirror," says the ÖAMTC expert. "The vignette must not be placed in the tinted strip under any circumstances.”

Keep it: The lower section of the vignette should be kept, as the backing film with the serial number serves as proof of purchase. It is needed for the possible issuance of a replacement vignette - for example, if the annual vignette was applied incorrectly and accidentally invalidated. In such cases, an application for a replacement vignette can be submitted to the mobility club.

Properly affix to motorcycles: On motorized two-wheelers, the vignette must be affixed to a clearly visible part that is not or only difficult to remove (e.g., the fork leg or metal support on the front wheel).
