Viennese Woman Missing Since January 2018: Investigation Against Ex Closed

In the case of Jennifer S. from Vienna-Brigittenau, who has been missing since January 2018, the investigation against the ex-boyfriend has been closed. The Vienna public prosecutor’s office confirmed a corresponding report by the “Kurier” (Tuesday edition) to the APA. The man had been investigated for deprivation of liberty.

Viennese woman missing for over a year

The young woman has been considered missing for over a year. The 21-year-old was last seen on January 22, 2018, when she left her apartment at Ospelgasse 11-17. She left her personal belongings in the apartment. Apparently, she had ended the relationship with her boyfriend from Lower Austria shortly before her disappearance.

In the case, there have been extensive search operations – including at the Ottenstein reservoir in the Waldviertel – all of which were unsuccessful, said the spokeswoman for the prosecution, Caroline Pestal-Czedik-Eysenberg. All means have been exhausted. The investigation against the man was closed on April 25. However, if new evidence emerges, the proceedings will be resumed.
